Finan came to Fair Isle as a stud fee puppy from a litter born from the last of the frozen semen collected from his sire, the great Nirvana, while here in the US. I had only one litter myself by Nirvana (something I regret to this day) and never owned one of his sons. It seemed appropriate to keep a boy from the litter whelped in Canada.

While awaiting his arrival here in the US (thanks to new CDC regulations requiring dogs to be 6 months old before importing to the USA) Finan's breeders took him and some of his littermates to their first shows, competing in Baby Puppy, where brother Arthur was Baby Puppy in Show the first 2 days and Finan was awarded the same on the Sunday. Quite a debut for the Nirvana x Jamie kids!

Finan made his debut in the States in February attending the GSCA Specialties held in Madison, WI. At the first specialty he was Reserve Winners Dog for a 3 point major from the 6-9 Month Puppy class under judge Bonnie Threlfall.

In March, it was off to Edison, NJ for the March Madness cluster which included 2 specialties (GSCA & TarTan) On Saturday, under Breeder Judge Brian Hubbard (Valley View), Finan was BOS in Sweepstakes and on Sunday repeated the win under judge Paul Reilly (Sandpiper) and was Reserve Winners under judge David Miller.

Finan wasn't shown again until September - starting with the Mid Atlantic Specialties where he won both his sweepstakes classes and was Reserve Winners both Sat & Sun to his Harbinger cousin Gator (Harbinger's Navigator) under judges Nancy Liebes & Steve Herman.

It was off to Boxborough, Mass for the 2025 GSCA Natonal & TarTan Specialties in mid-October. Finan had an outstanding week winning Best in Sweepstakes and both the TarTan Specialty (Judge Judith Browne; Sassenach) and the National (Judge Gordon Chambers; Ben Nevis).

It was March before we kicked off shows in 2026 and Finan's first weekend out didn't disappoint. He won back-to-back majors @ the TarTan & GSCA Specialties held with the March Madness Cluster in Edison, NJ. Judges were Sporting specialist Michael Faulkner on Saturday and Jon Cole on Sunday.
